A late Merry Christmas!

I am very blessed to have a wonderful family with the newest edition of my new nephew, Lucas! I have many things to look forward to in the coming year, a new wheelchair, a new service dog (hopefully in a year or so), a potential new job, and health.

Christmas day was pretty laid back for us. We just had a family meal of spiral cut ham, green beans, corn, and homemade macaroni. Of course mom had to go all out on sweets. The ratio of sweets to “real” food is always high! We had two pumpkin pies, buttermilk pie, brownies, and fudge.

I am still waiting to hear back from the company I applied with to get a formal job offer. But the background submission happened right before Christmas; it is now almost the end of Christmas week, so I believe I probably won’t hear anything until the beginning of the new year.

Mr. Limpet is doing well (my new betta fish). At first I thought he may die just from stress of moving around into a new tank, well I also switched him twice officially. From the cup to a little half-gallon tank, to a 1-gallon tank with a filter and light. He wouldn’t eat anything for many days, and just within the past day and a half he has finally begun to eat. He is an interesting little fella… who would have though a fish will beg for food, and really can be somewhat target trained! Now all I have to do is hold my hand to the side of the tank that has the food opening and he quickly swims right up to me and attacks his food I drop in. He is picky though, if he doesn’t eat it immediately and if it sits for a few minutes, he won’t eat those pieces.

Mom, unfortunately is sick. She went to a walk-in clinic and was diagnosed with tonsillitis. But, I am worried even more because her blood pressure is high and her oxygen levels are low. At first we blamed it on feeling bad, her oxygen levels have never been super great to begin with. But, she has been on blood pressure medication since she was in her 40s and since on meds, her BP always is really good. She has been having pretty significant shortness of breath and feeling faint. They gave her azithromycin for her tonsillitis, but if her blood pressure and shortness of breath symptoms do not get any better over the next few days, she needs to go to the ER to get checked out. I just worry that this may be an underlying condition that may have been caught out of coincidence.
