Mom has pneumonia

Well I made mom go to the ER tonight, she agreed she needed to go after some rough shortness of breath episodes today. Her blood pressure at one point was 145/115, and her oxygen saturation was 81%!!

So basically mom has pneumonia… which she couldn’t believe because she wasn’t coughing much, but I think it is just because we caught it early because of her shortness of breath. Kind of like a walking pneumonia. The azithromycin isn’t working apparently.

So he gave her some IV fluids, a big dose of Rocephalin antibiotic (which I have had before when VERY sick with pneumonia and it normally kicks butt!) and they gave her a breathing treatment which made her oxygen levels go up.

So the regimen is: 10 days of doxycycline antibiotic, 5 days of prednisone, and albuterol breathing treatments 2x a day. Plus she has to go to her doc to check on possibly getting her blood pressure medicine switched or higher dose.
