Yesterday started off with a bang. My littlest brother (18), Eric, was out in my mom’s craft room with her. She had some plate glass sheets leaned up against a wall, they were covered in brown paper. He starts leaning back in a chair, which she had told him numerous times not to do because he may fall, and what did he do? He fell right into the sheet glass. Mom screamed and spilled her coffee all over her. He got a deep laceration on the underside of his forearm, about 2” long and you could see the meat inside. It was about an 1/8 of an inch wide open.
So luckily, we had butterfly (Steri-Strips) suture-like bandages. We were able to get the bleeding under control and pull it closed fairly well. He really could afford to get stitches, but we have no insurance, so we will have to watch how it heals over the next few days.
He got SO lucky!! That could have been a fatal accident. If a shard broke off and pierced an organ, an artery or vein, or his face it would have been BAD!
